It was with GREAT JOY that my family and I yesterday were able to visit Northfield, MA, where D. L. Moody was born and lived in his later years until his death.
Moody has always been an inspiration to me ever since I was a boy. The power of God rested upon his life, and I long for that anointing of the Holy Ghost for souls.
It has always been a desire of my heart to visit this place, see and pray over his grave, and walk about the 1894 auditorium he built by faith to hold week-long revival conferences at the campgrounds. (Our three volume series “Echoes of Yesteryear” is filled with sermons preached from behind the pulpit in this auditorium from 1894-1899 https://remnantministriesonline.com/product/echoes-of-yesteryear-series)
Men like D. L. Moody, C. T. Studd, F. B. Meyer, G. Campbell Morgan, Andrew Murray, and so many others, besides even Ira Sankey singing in this building. (If the furniture could speak — imagine the stories of conviction, revival, and power it witnessed!!)
The Lord led us providentially to a groundskeeper who (without us even asking) inquired if we would like to go inside the auditorium and allowed us to leave when we were through. Amazing!! Thank you, Lord.
Just as God did such a powerful work in this place — through preaching on Biblical holiness, soul-winning, power for service, full surrender, etc — we desire for Him to work again in our generation for His glory and the furtherance of the Gospel!!
How committed, concentrated, and consecrated are we unto seeing Him “rend the Heavens”?
Oh God, please….
