America’s Forgotten History: The Sacred Fire of the American Pulpit

What ignited the hearts of our forefathers to fight for freedom? What engaged the minds of patriots to keep their eyes upon the Lord and call upon His name for Divine intervention as they went up against the greatest military might in the world? It began with the sacred fire of the American pulpit.

As the colonists suffered from the tyranny of Great Britain, preachers helped them recognize their God-given rights according to the Bible. Pastors were men of resilient testimonies with fiery dispositions. John Adams observed that the ministers of Philadelphia were “thunder and lightning”, and Jefferson reflected that pulpit oratory was “a shock of electricity” throughout Virginia. Furthermore, a countless host of preachers became a courageous inspiration to their congregations by serving as chaplains and officers in the Continental Army.

Today, America stands at the crossroads. Once again, there is a desperate need for us as God’s men and God’s people to rise up. We cannot remain silent and still. Through its artistic animation, insightful dialogue, and thrilling reenactment footage, The Sacred Fire of the American Pulpit will inspire you to stand “in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life” (Philippians 2:15).
